Eileen’s Hopefuls

What I’m currently working on is...

A five-book Inspirational romance series called "The Olive Collection" geared toward Steeple Hill's Love Inspired line .

All five of the novels in this collection have a strong tie with the Olive Disability Equestrian Center that is created in book one.

 Book One: A New Beginning

A widowed mother, Katrina Olsen, and her three adolescent daughters help a furloughed overseas missionary, Curtis Livingston, develop a non-profit equestrian center on his inherited land. Neither Katrina or her girls are prepared to accept all that Curtis has to offer, which is just as well, since he's slated to be the next head master of Bingham Academy in Addis, Ethiopia.

Currently, I’m working on the umpteenth revision of this one. I just can’t seem to let it go.

 Book Two: My Gift

The head coach, Leanne Bronte, of the Olive Disability Equestrian Center has little luck finding the right man...until she meets a student’s uncle, Adam McAlister. Romance blooms until she discovers the difficulty in keeping a good man, even in the best of health.

The first draft is complete and the initial revision is underway.

 Book Three: Reunited

Lizzy Olsen-Livingston, Katrina’s eldest daughter, and her long-time boyfriend, Stephen Bishop, traverse the difficulties of a long-distance relationship. Will distance separate them forever, or can young love prevail?

Research is underway for this novel, and I plan to have the plotting and character sketches ready for 2008’s National Novel Writer’s Month (NANOWRIMO). See book four for more on NANOWRIMO.

Book Four: For Better or For Worse?

The Olsen-Livingston’s youngest daughter, Maria, plans to follow her step-dad’s footsteps into overseas mission work. While awaiting her placement, she takes a position as a nurse at the local hospital and is accosted by a womanizing obstetrician, Dr. Matthew Parone. With her sights set on the other side of the world, Maria views her limited time with Dr. Parone as good training ground for the expected adversities ahead. Suddenly love blindsides her, but will she admit it?

The Pearl Girls, the wonderful critique group I’m a member of, are currently helping me fine tune the second draft of this novel. For Better or For Worse? was my first attempt at achieving a NANOWRIMO certificate. I reached the 60,000 word goal during November 2007’s National Novel Writer’s Month challenge. What an amazing feeling that was. I hope to duplicate it in 2008 as well.

Book Five: Drama Queen to the Rescue

Stephanie Olsen-Livingston is a high school math and drama teacher who bubbles over in exuberance. When she meets farmer Edwin Tumbleweed, she more than meets her match, and discovers he’s everything she is not.

Drama Queen to the Rescue is just a seedling right now. I’m nurturing the idea, working on cultivating it into a fully developed plot line. I’m hoping to write the first draft of it in early 2009.

These five stories will hopefully comprise my biggest learning curve in creative writing. I don’t believe a good author ever stops learning and since I plan to be the best author God can make me, I intend to be forever in training. But it is my sincere hope that my work on "The Olive Series" will prepare me well for whatever God’s plan is for my newfound desire to write.
